Thumbs down Not Recharging!

Hello everyone,

My macbook pro isn't recharging! What happened was I foolishly spilled nestea over it and it seeped inside. I waited until everything dried and I turned it on and it worked perfectly. However, when I plug it in, the green light does not come on. I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was or if anyone knew any possible solutions? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Kris

Hi kittkat.
Are you sure it seeped inside? Some bits are sealed against spills (although I haven't seen a Macbook - but I would have thought...)
If you did, the spill could have messed with the charging circuit, but probably only if the spill was over near where you plug in the charger, seeing everything else seems to be working.
Does the charger heat up? It should. If it doesn't, it has a problem.
Was the charger plugged into the laptop when the spill occurred? Maybe you blew a fuse - not you personally, either in the Macbook or in the house (I would be very surprised if it was in the house though). Have you tried another wall plug? Is the charger plugged in securely at both ends? (Did you turn on the switch? You probably wouldn't tell if you didn't.)
If you have a multimeter or similar, you can check if the charger is putting out current.
You can also do a test of this with a light globe of about the right voltage and a piece of wire.
Sometimes the wires on chargers break. It would be a coincidence if it happened just now, but you never know. Do you know anyone else with the same charger that you could borrow?
Does it look all right where the plug goes in - I've seen pins bent in there.
