Default Laptop won't connect to wireless network anymore

I have a desktop & a laptop both running XP, that have been wirelessly connected to the net via a Netgear router for over a year. The desktop is still connected & works just fine but now the laptop says it's connected but I can't open any pages. IE7 says it can't display the web page & Google chrome says either error 105 or error 118. If I plug the laptop into the router via the ethernet cable it works perfectly. This leads me to believe there's nothing wrong with the router but is there something in the laptop that could've gone wrong? I'd be very grateful for any advice. I have looked through the forum to see if anyone else has had the same problem & there are some similar but none exactly the same, hence this post.

Something I left out of my 1st post is, I've unplugged & reset the router several times, desktop still fine & laptop still won't open pages but I've tried connecting the laptop just now to various other unsecured networks in my street & then it worked perfectly just as it always has on my network until today. Also just pinged my IP both plugged in & wirelessly & both times the request was timed out. Completely puzzled now.

Hi

Do other applications that need internet connections , like email or Antivirus still update via the internet?

For IE, clear your temps and cookies, use CCleaner and its Cleaner option (leave all at default)

For Chrome try this HERE

Do you use encrypted wifi connection (WEP, WPA etc)? if so disable it to test and can you connect like you do to the unsecure networks in your area?

Do you have a software firewall, if so what is it and disable it to test (do same for your antivirus) and does this help?

If you get any errors or messages with the above do post them, also attach a IP report to your next post too in a text file,

open a CMD prompt and type ipconfig /all and also attach your Ping results say to forums.majorgeeks.com

Nothing will update or download via wireless connection on the laptop.
Sorry for the delay, we disabled the antivirus & firewall (Zonealarm Pro) and it made no difference, the only error message was err 105.
