Prevent CSS Hijack-CoolWebSearch?

I've got this 'malware' that shows up on my XP system;

SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Styles\c:\windows\web\oslogo.bmp

Ad-Aware says it is a StyleSheet Hijack.
How can I prevent this from getting onto my PC and changing the IE home page?

It's suspected that a pop-up installs this crap and uses vulnerabilities in IE. Perhaps changing your browser would help.There are a lot of choices for both on the front page. Also, you can get rid of MS Java and grab the Sun version.
