Okay, so i have an MPEG video, and i want to take a few frames from it and put it into a animated gif. I cant print screen it, just shows up as a black square, and i tried making a new wmv video in movie maker but that cripples the quality.

    Any other ideas?

I believe mpeg is a compressed format and you would need the source file to actually get frames from it. :(

I've never tried to get 'shots of a video... Did you try stopping or pausing the vid? Seems like there has to be a way around... I'll give it a try.

yep, whether its paused or playing i still get a nice "windows transparent" colour, which is the really odd thing.

i can see the video in my MS Paint window, but the really weird thing is that its MOVING! :p

I tried some wierd stuff like importing it into photoshop and still no luck. I'll keep trying tho... I like figuring out these kinds of puzzles. Hmm.. come to think of it, that's how I learned to work on these things.

actually, you can print screen from media player. All you need to do is have media player unfocused. So what you do is pause the video where you want to print screen - next open IE or calculator and have that program focused but still able to see media player - once you have done that do a normal print screen and it will capture everything including the media player video screen :)
