My computer used to automatically power down when I shut down, but it has now started rebooting instead.

    Is it windows xp?

    Turn off auto restart.

Do you get a stop error?

    Is it a stop 0xa?

Do you have easy cd creator installed?

If you said yes to all of these, then uninstall Easy CD Creator, the version you are using is malfunctioning or isnt compatible ;)

Yes it is Windows XP. I do not have easy cd creator installed.
I have already disabled the auto restart, and my computer still reboots when I shut down.

I had installed an animated background that froze my computer. After I rebooted the computer, everything was fine until I tried to shutdown, adn ever since then I have not been able to shut down the computer, it just reboots.

See if anything over here will help. If that doesn't help & you have a recent restore point try doing a system restore.
