Default Malware Removal Instructions Complete... Problems still exist

Here is the issue I was having prior to the "read me first" steps:

1) Search engine redirect: where I search for something via google, bing, or yahoo and when i click on the results it sends me to some unrelated website

Here are the issues i am having after "read me first" steps:

1) Search engine redirect: where I search for something via google, bing, or yahoo and when i click on the results it sends me to some unrelated website

2) I am having trouble opening file folders. I get an error message the windows has stopped working and then it searches for a solution and shuts down. I cannot even open up the file folder.

3) When I right click a file or folder, a windows installer window appears and attempts to either download something or install something. It seems to have something to do with Adobe.

I have no clue what all these logs mean. I just followed the steps and retrieved these logs.

I have just found another issue after I did all the steps.

MPEG Splitter has stopped working properly.

MPEG Splitter is a codec. The file name of this codec is mpegsplitter.ax.

Here are my PC details if that helps. I am running windows vista home primium with service pack 2, HP Pavilion dx6500 notebook with 1.50GHz 2GB RAM 32-bit Ops system. I also use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet explorer unless I have to for school which is when the issue started to happen.

C:\Users\Wayne\Desktop\computer fix\MGtools.exe <--- delete this now as it is not where MGTools.exe should have been anyway.

Go to add/remove programs to uninstall the below outdated java:
  • Java(TM) 6 Update 3
  • Java(TM) 6 Update 5
  • Java(TM) 6 Update 7
  • Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6

Go to TDSSKiller and Download TDSSKiller.zip to your Desktop
  • Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
  • Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold command into Run box and hit Enter.
"%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -v
  • Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
  • When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply.

Now we need to use ComboFix
  • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
  • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
  • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
  • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
Code:
KILLALL::

Driver::
eeba

File::
c:\windows\TEMP\TMP0000000AEACF03773EBA463D
c:\windows\system32\eeba.sys
c:\windows\System32\19A8874D95.dll

DirLook::
C:\904d420449fd32cdbf

Folder::
C:\Windows\6ECD42B232AF4898880D0608EA5C592A.TMP
  • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
  • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
  • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
  • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

  • Follow the prompts.
  • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
  • I will ask for this log below

Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Attach the below SAS log you missed:
Quote:
C:\Users\Wayne\AppData\Roaming\SUPERAntiSpyware.com\SUPERAntiSpyware\Logs\SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log - 07-02-2010 - 02-40-32.log
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know now how things are running?

I am about to give you final steps, but let me just ask...

C:\Users\Wayne\desktop\AJTS7A.DAT <--- What is this and what does it relate to?

The .dat file is nothing to worry about. It is a product of one of my work files. It can and will be removed.

No problem then.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
  1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
  2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
    • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
    • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
      • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
      • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
  3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
  4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
  5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
  6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
  7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
  8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
    related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
  9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
      for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
  10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

I'm sorry, but what you are describing has nothing to do with malware. You will be better off hitting up the software forum for advice on this.
