    Hey All:

Just rebuilt my 2003 server box and put the SCSI drive back in it that I've been using.. It's an older one, but does the trick to serve up web pages. Anyway, it's a different motherboard and processor, so there were bound to be problems somewhere...

So, the thing bluescreens during file writes/installs. Gives a long error (I have auto reboot off) starting with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and occasionally DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. yada yada yada.

Anyway, I found the error in the MS archives and they write that there IS a hotfix for this, but they don't post the dang thing! I got my copy through my MSDN subscription through work and MS wants proof that I purchased it OR pay some ridiculous fee for the hot fix for a KNOWN problem with their OS. What gives!!!

Does anyone know of another source for these hotfix files? LIke a message board somewhere?

Here I am with a useless server and they won't let me have the fix. Really burns my bacon.

MS does not charge for hotfixes. The ones not regression tested are not public and you have to call for them.

Are you afraid of calling them with a non legit OS?

Not saying it is...but you are kind of giving off that vibe.

    What is the KB article?

That's a pretty messed up accusation, there...

Didn't I say that I got my copy through the MSDN subscription that I have through my work? Do you think I am lying?

Not that I need to explain myself, but I don't want to call them because my employer has the information I would need to avoid paying for the help.

:EDIT:: Ya know what... I've been reading and posting here for a long time and I've tried to help as much as I've been helped. I've had a nice time, but I don't appreciate this BS. Good luck all, I'm out of here.

I didn t accuse you at all.

    Read the second line.

Getting defensive doesn't help my original comment either.

I know the policies on hotfixes from MS.

I know they dont charge for them.

    I'll ask once more.

    What is the KB article?

    Spaz,
I have found in the past when I've had this issue that 1 of two things worked for me.
    1. Update motherboard drivers.
    2. Try a different NIC.
    3. Reformat and try again.

I don't know why you are throwing a fit.

I only said how you were making it appear.

    Oh well.

Guess it won't help you now , I was going to get the hotfix for you, provided that the fix prescribed accurately to the issue.

Why you think I kept asking for the article?
