Every time i want to uses my address bar going down
the arrows i click on it and my computer freeze everytime!!!

i press control -alt -delete and nothing i have to press reset
    on my case to restart.

Amd i remember to repair my internet explorer you have
to go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components - select Internet Explorer and remove it - it won't remove, of course, but the repair function works behind the scene...

But i don't have it on Add/remove i know they is another way around but i don't remember !!!

Now i just realise that when my connection it's not (ON)
56k user the bug it's not there anymore???

So my connection or internet explorer !!!

    Internet Explorer Repair

If you are running IE5.5 in Windows 98 Here is what you do. click start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information/ Click on tools when the dialog box comes up there you will see Internet repair. Click on that and that's It. By the way you didn's say what os you were using. I just assumed that you was in Windows 98.:)

If you followed what I had said to the letter You should have found the system information which has several tabs to click on starting with internet explorer Repair tool \ direct X \ Windows report tool and the list goes on and on ending with version conflict. But you must have the system information off the accessories tab. Do you have the CD ROM That has Windows98 Se ON? If so you can go into the cab files and extract Ie5 and reinstall it in your computer. If not you can give me your address and I will send you a CD Rom with IE5.5 Sp2 ONLY. Have fun?//////????

Does it freeze your computer in Safe Mode?

I know you can't get on the net there, but you can open IE and see if the address bar freezes you there.

Does it matter if the thread is old? Should I start a new one? I'm a newbie here.

I was unable to run Housecall (keeps freezing), but I have d/l and run AVG Free from this site. I have already cleared history, cookies, etc.

Also, forgot to mention that in IE, it's only the address bar that freezes - hyperlinks and favorites work fine.

I cannot open My Computer or use Browse in any dialog box.

Desaree, yes, I suggest you start a new thread. If you think it's a software problem, post it in that forum and be as specific as you can about the problem, Include info on your computer, IE and Windows versions and SPs, etc. I'm inclined to think it's more than just an IE problem since My Computer and Browse don't work properly---may be a general OS problem that only a reinstall would solve. I don't suggest doing that at this point, though.

If there's any suspicion that it may be a spyware/virus problem, I suggest you read Major Attitude's stickies in the spyware forum and work through them. You might have a better indication after that of whether it's spyware or not, then you can post on that forum if need be.

    Good luck!
