Scandisk @ Defrag don,t work -- any help?

Scandisk has restarted 10 times because Windows or another program has been writing to this drive.

 

What progs do you have running? Winxxx being so self centred!

 

when in windows, Start -> Run -> chkdsk is that what you mean? im a bit confused

 

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
and close all programs you don't need during scandisk or defrag!

 

I Press ctrl, alt, delete and close every thing except for explorer, this works on my system, as i had the same prob before. didnt notice what version of windows you run, but the prob i hab was with 98. however should work for any version.

 

should close everything except explorer and systray
turn off screen saver , run normal scandisk not thorough
defraggin takes forever with win98SE this is a link for diskeeper it defrags windows 98 really fast even xp goes quicker

if you boot to safe mode, you will be able to run scandisk and defrag without a problem.
