Default Msn/Hotmail

A bit confused...

Msn Explorer won't accept my user name or password, it... since yesterday, has been rejecting them both. It comes up with a message saying they don't exist.. The same when i try to log onto Msn messenger, and this is not only with my user name. I tried another one and it's the same..

Then when i tried to log onto hotmail, i entered my password etc, and as the next page loads it always says the page cannot be displayed... this happens when i try to get on the forgotten password page, or help pages for forgotten passwords etc. Also for a new account, yet i can get onto other aspects of the hotmail help........... I'm so confused.... Please help...

Hugga you say you can get online with that PC but cannot sign in to some websites?

I just logged into O2 just now..... I'm thinking you have your Privacy Settings a bit too high..... goto Tools > Internet Options > Privacy and set the slider to Medium High ( that works ok for me anyway )

Did you delete your cookies?

also try this program http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=730 it is a trial for 30 days but one thing it does well is to compleatly erase your Cookies, Temp Internet Folder and the Index.dat file which does hold info on your visited web sites... it maybe possible that this is holding some erronious data?

Once installed and started click privacy then make sure Internet Explorer is ticked and then click next it will wipe the Temp Internet folder and cookies then you will be given a prompt to restart your PC do so to erase the index.dat files.

other than this Hugga unless I was infront of PC I will have to do some more looking, but if you havnt already Email MSN

So you can view the main pages at Hotmail and O2 but when you enter your login and password you are taken to a "cannot find page"?

Are you using a PC linked to a network?

Do you have a Firewall program?

Which windows version you using?

Have you run a Virus and Spyware check?

one quicky to try http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...51/default.asp this is a possible fix, have you been updating windows before this happened?

This is probably completely off the topic and useless BUT.... I believe that IE encrypts your passwords by the private/public key system... do you think it's possible that your keys are corrupted? If so, the only solutions I can imagine are to:
a) use a different browser, e.g. firebird
b) reinstall IE... which as far as I know is tricky... might need to reinstall Windows :S

Ah sorry Hugga... by network I mean more than 1 PC connected to a router and sharing the same internet connection.

just to be safe try one or more of thes online AV scans as some AV programs DO miss some Trojans/Virii whereas some other pick them up.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm
http://security.symantec.com/

Also if you havnt run
Ad-Aware for any spyware on your PC but remember once installed click "Check for updates Now" to get latest definition files!

I just want to rule out Spyware or Virii and trojans first as you say other PCs are ok with your login details, which mean its a problem with that PC you are using.
