Good XML Web Services Overview? (Intro)

Hi, i am currently studying for the XML Web Services portion of the MCAD/MCSD Certifications. It seems that it is recommended that a person have some programming experience for this (which i dont, really) though i was not informed when i applied to my college. Anyways, the text we are using is one published by Microsoft and is rather technical and dry. i was wondering if anyone could point me to some books or online tutorials that i can use to gain some supplementary knowledge on the subject of Windows/Web Services. i feel a little lost with the bombardment of terms.
