Default Backlight Problem

Ok so here is my problem I have a macbook and I will be using it and the back light in the screen will just go out and the only way I can get it working is to go to close it and then re-open it fast and putting downward pressure on the screen. What might the problem be?

Hi

Likely its either the cable to the monitor is loose or the backlight/inverter is starting to fail, is this MacBook still under warranty? if so take it to your local Apple store and see if they can help.

Off hand not having a Macbook I dont know how easy it is to check yourself and these are not cheap machines to be opening if you are not confident in repairs, hence I would take it to a Genius Bar at an Apple Store and have them look as they are used to working on these.

Thank you for the advise David. As I do not have an Apple store near me I do not have an option to take it in to them. I am confident that I can do the work myself I do need help pinpointing the problem. You see I am not wanting to end up building a new computer in the process of fixing this minor problem.
