Yesterday I noticed something weird on my LCD monitor, I can see a faint horizontal line rising (only if you look closely), I tried to change my refresh rate but the lines are more noticable when i switched it higher than 60 hz (can only support 60,70 and 72 @ both 800 and 1024 resolution)

Is this normal for a LCD to see this horizontal line?

No It's not normal to see a moving horizontal line. If you've tried all the supported resolutions and refresh rates and the line persists, then it sounds to me like your monitor is just getting old and is showing its age. It might be time for a new monitor soon.

Is also possible that my AVR causing this? just right now when my AVR emit some sound (can't describe on words) my monitor power seems losing, so could the horizontal lines can be caused by a bad AVR or can a aging LCD monitor can cause the AVR to emit that sound?

Try the machine without the AVR temporarily if possible. It is possible that the AVR could be failing and causing the lines on the screen. It would also probably make sound in the speakers.

    Hi Hy,

The guys are pretty close. That's an old TV/Monitor problem. The Vertical sweep is near 60 hz and so is the AC line frequency. They beat together and produce the line. Higher sweep freq causes the line to move faster. You are picking up 60 Cycle energy from a power supply with not so good regulation or are too near a source of 60 HZ radiation. The room is full of it mostly from the wireing in the walls. Hope this helps a little.

    Good Luck, Jim

Gonna post later if anything happens

I tried without AVR but there's some really faint horizontal lines still going up. Anyways thanks to all that help, it seems I need to buy a new one :)
