I am cleaning up my computer and I have removed the obvious programs that are not necessary. But I want to know which of these programs are absolutely necessary to run my computer?

I also have a ton of processes running. And when I am trying to work it is really messing with my work programs. So if anyone can tell me how to get a list of processes posted on here and be willing to help me with that I would appreciate it! Thanks.

 

I recommend you check out this guys site http://www.blackviper.com/ and I am going to be honest and say that you will most likely not get anyone to sift through your programs to determine what you should and shouldn't delete. There is a tone of stuff. I currently run about 75 processes in total(show all processes). That link provides other links that explain all your processes and programs and tells you there use or rather uselessness if that be the case. Also when I went through the same process you did, I quite literally opened up Google and started typing in searches for everything not covered on that site. Happy deleting Sir.

Thanks for your reply. When it comes to the installed programs I just really want to know what is necessary for my computer to function. Like I know that Photoshop isnt necessary, but im not sure if Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.4148 is....

My computer is running Windows 7. No service pack listed.

When I am working sometimes my IE will freeze up. When I work I have a Citrix program running, A chat room open, 2 billing systems, and our internal e-mail. While I work I have to use several resources located online. So when I have 5 IE tabs up then after a min or 2 it will freeze. My temporary solution has been to download Chrome and Firefox and I use them to aleviate the issue. But that becomes a bit of a time waster when I am trying to locate something quickly and cant remember what browser I have it in.

Another thing that I have noticed is that Sound Max will have like 10 processes.... Is this normal? Like in my tray right now there are 9 running. And my CPU percentage is at 49% Which just doesnt seem normal to me.

 

Oh and the computer I have is an HP 300-1120 4GB RAM 64 bit OS 2.70 GHz processor
