Default Who can help with my hobby?

I developed an intense interest in the past few years in free imaginative, theoretical thinking.

Unfortunately, given the educational disciplines required are not in my area I require help from others in the form of critiques, contributions and advice.

If anyone has any input or is interest in any or all of the following I would like to hear from you:

Ionic wind generators

Super conductive metals and ceramics

Electro-magnetic fields

Power generators and multipliers constructed on the nano level

Fluid dynamics and gravities effects on human physiology

Just a fun hobby to keep me from catching old timers disease…

I spent a little time making a wind machine using spare lawn mower parts and some pieces of sheet metal.

This is the simple explanation... but I feel confident there are working models flying about as we speak.

Think outside your time and your mind.
I can take no credit for the following as DARPA has long been pursuing this path with great success.
So, if you read and absorb large quantities of information regarding the following categories, then allow it simmer slowly inside your mind and imagination, then I believe you will come to some of the same conclusions.
Collectively I believe the correct combination and configuration of the following have the abilities to give a craft the ability to nullify the effects of gravity, achieve incredible speeds (possibly exceeding physics as we know it) and mind boggling maneuverability.

Power generators and multipliers constructed on the nano level

Super conductive metals and ceramics not requiring the extreme cold temperatures, which I believe have already been developed or the requirements circumvented by additional technologies.

Ionic wind generators -

Electro-magnetic fields

Fluid dynamics and gravities effects on human physiology

There are other sciences (plasma and mercury) which I believe have a relation and correlation, but I have yet to dream it into existence.

Nah there's no way in physics to nullify the effects of gravity other than to over power it with an opposite force, you can't cause an object to move mass.

In old Newtonian way of describing gravity maybe but since relativity came our understanding of gravity has changed. The problem is gravvity shouldn't be though of as a force it's more like an effect, gravity warps space and time it isn't merley a force acting upon objects with mass.#

For example if you dropped a hammer and fired a laser beam horizontally on the surface of the earth the hammer and the laser beam would both hit the earth at the same time, even though the photons in the laser beam have 0 mass. This is because both the hammer and the laser beam are travelling through the same gravitationally warped space.

Figuring out why things have mass will be the first step in undertstanding how to overcome the effects of gravity.

Hey thanks Rikky for contributing your knowledge and imagination.

Here is my train or thought.

First and foremost, everyone knows the one main problem we've had is power generation on a small enough scale.

#1 - The US, likely thru NASA in conjunction with DARPA and private contractors have been successfully flying and testing craft here in the SW for some time. It is unclear if these craft are completely ion lifters, could be a combination of that and lighter than air craft, or other possibilites.
But the fact is, the giant flying wing is flying and exists.

Pardon me, but I have been called away. I'll be back on later and lets talk again.

Hey Tim... as you answered my initial solicitation for people who might be interested in helping me expand my hobby, an interest outside the box which is physics, I want to make sure it is an acceptable subject for the Lounge.
To inform of the depth of my commitment and interest, I have read thousands of pages over the past two years, consulted with dozens on the university level and above and written almost 500 (unpublished) pages myself.
This point here being to emphasize the potential size of this thread, if Rikky and others hang in there.
No harm no foul for me, I just want to make sure and not take up server space with off the subject conversations.

I don't know what craft you mean by the flying wing?Do you know of any evidence or articles describing their operation?

The power supply problem is one being worked on all the time,IMO THE most likely new propulsion with come when stable fusion plasma can be maintained. We're probably about 20-30 years away from creating stable plasma's and hence creating a viable propulsion power source let alone putting one in a craft and flying it.To date no stable plasma has been created that lasts for more than a second and none of the fusion reaction experiments have produced any excess power that can be harnessed and it even may turn out to be impossible without the gravity of a star.

There are ion thrusters being used by NASA ATM but the amount of thrust is minuscule albeit many times more energy efficient than chemical rockets but these don't work like ion lifters, ion lifters ionise the surrounding air to cause lift 'basically cooking it' so are useless to NASA as they don't work in a vacuum.Ion thrusters work in a vacuum and can use a nuclear power source to supply the power and are actually in use even by commercial satellites but they suffer the same problem as a chemical rocket in that they use gas as a fuel and once its run out so does the propulsion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ion_thruster

EDIT any ion lifter that had the power to lift a vehicle or multiple vehicles would have to ionise so much air it would create pollution levels of ozone and damage the nitrogen and oxygen in our atmosphere.

Noved into Gadgets and other Electronics as the topic deserves this type of forum area over just an interesting link as the conversation on gadgets is good from what I have read so far.

I see Rikky is in his element

Thanks for the info David... just wanted to make sure... hey Rikky... haven't forgotten you... just got called away on an important matter which I am still working on...
But quickly, the 'wing' is just a rough shape and yes, there are thousands of people here who saw it and some quite good pictures if you can talk to the right people.
I have spoken to people who the whole street came out and looked up at it less than 300 feet in the air, creeping slowly, possibly floating along, not a sound.
But, gotta run again, I'll be back on later today.
Go MG

I babble on again...

I think everyone awaits every result to come from CERN, whose research has expedited targeted endeavors in Illinois, Texas and all the other labs.

Could it be Pandora’s Box will be discovered?

If not here at the many private research labs and secret bases to which we aren’t directly privy.

I believe we see far more of the top scientists openly speaking of the likelihood of physics as we know it being at least redefined.

I personally believe there is one discovery which will be made at CERN which will give us a new understanding of the big boom and the relationship of energy, mass and an explanation of gravity.

New life has been pumped into electro-magnetic research which has shown under controlled lab conditions both living tissue and inanimate objects can be made to counteract gravity.

The single most over whelming problem of propulsion system size appears to be in process of resolution. My research tells me that the development of chemical powered lasers had much to do with this discovery.

I believe a workable system has been developed and tested which is on the horizon of revolutionizing and defying our imagination. And soon to be of a size which does not expend all of the energy generated, just to propel the generator.

To this, I believe it could possibly use minor nuclear but more likely chemical and exotic materials (I call it exotic as I can obtain no information regarding its composition) which in turn will serve as the initial energy source, primary if you might. Then, when used in conjunction with power conserving and multiplying, super-conductive ceramic materials protected inside a super electro-magnetic protective exterior, the results push the limits of our imagination.

Or course we know the laws of physics clearly show that the mass of an object increases as it moves closer to the speed of light. Given this we know it is impossible to reach the speed of light with our technologies and materials. But two thoughts come to mind here, one being a new material which has such low mass density it lacks the competition for energy of conventional materials, and the other possibly more importantly compels me to believe and suggest we don’t need to move at the speed of light. But that is another subject.

Importantly I move to my observations beginning in the early 80’s and continuing through today. Particularly, in the past 8 years I have seen very distinctive and often repeated phrases developing a pattern of use by this group.

The original announcements I saw regarding the new frontier of nano research and its impact on technology was stereotypical. Typically relating the value to day to day life via computers, batteries for electric cars, etc.

BTW, isn’t this great subterfuge for dark projects?

In the beginning such terms as ‘the new field of nano technology’ led a natural progression to what the ‘current research on the nano level has discovered’. At a point the reporting split into multiple camps, e.g. those focusing on the consumer products and those disappearing into the dark world of research.

However, soon there were bits and pieces leaked by the dark side casually mentioning ‘now that we have reached the point of useful development and implementation’. Most recently I have heard top physicists and other scientist from the such schools as U of A, NYU, MIT and others speak slyly of ‘the continued development of new systems’ which we can ‘now utilize in reaching into the heavens’.

An interesting note, when I correlate all my personal information with my observations, along side of the patents beginning in the early eighties to today, I find an interesting pattern.

Subtle albeit it, but many of the ideas which had fallen from vogue in the science of physics and other sciences and once referred to openly as ‘parlor tricks if you will, have now been resuscitated.

Have to run, back at it for a few hours and will be back on tomorrow.

Well I agree you it is good fuel for the imagination and you certainly do have a fertile imagination And I mean this in the nicest possible non condescending way

I'm more of a hard facts kind of person, what's possible, how its possible and mostly I like to see the numbers.

I do think we're on the verge of a breakthrough in physics in particular mass and gravity,my personal non qualified 'belief' is that we're missing or have misunderstood something really important regarding gravity and its effect in the universe.there are couple of reasons that lead me to believe this;

1.Gravity appears to be too weak when compared to the other fundamental forces and in the same vein gravity is the most powerful and destructive force in the universe.
2.There isn't enough gravity/mass in the universe to hold galaxies together, this proven by the speed at which outer stars in galactic system rotate.
3.The culmination of gravity's power is a black hole and these make no sense at all
4.Even though the universe has enough gravity to hold star systems and galaxies together the universe is still being pulled apart by an unkown force proven by hubble with red shifts.
5.Our two main theories/observed effects quantum mechanics and relativity don't work together, its would appear on of them or both of them is wrong or we're missing something vital, String theory has unified these forces but to date is an unprovable theory adn it hasn't as yet been able to make any predictions.

In each of these problems we've basically come up with a new particle or effect to compensate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weakly_...sive_particles

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_energy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_matter

IMO and that's a very big IMO I think all of these problems are related and the solution which may very well be very simple solution will be the biggest eureka moment in the history of science 'apart from TV's of course.' and if I let my imagination wander a little further I think the solution will be something that's right in front our noses and be something that we've quite simply misinterpreted or misunderstood for decades.

An maybe when these problems or this one big problem as I like think of it have been figured out gravity will no longer be a problem to us any more and the universe will become our oyster.

Edit time ran out, theory of everything sounds like magic or science fiction but all it means is a theory that allows all of our other theories to work in the same universe.

Sorry for the double postIf any moderator would be so kind as to remove post 18 if not busy,I've edited 19 much cleaner and added a 5th point.
