    I did it

Im now a watercooled cool dude

Got the waterchill kit, its not the cheapest but it goes in easy.

    dropped the temps by 15C

Gonna do some benchmarks to see how it handles it

Oh it makes you very very nervous

nice choice dude, she'll server ya well.
I just finished cleaning the dust out of my case, and re-applied the thermal paste, added a fan on the HDD's and temps have now dropped 5c.

I know how you feel, that's why I have a window, so I can keep an eye on it.

    Got any pics yet?

    Picture attached

What sort of temps should I be looking at?

    At the present they are

    Ambient House 25C
    System 31C
    CPU Idle 41C
    CPU max 51C

Seem a bit higher than I was expecting

    Pictures to follow

    Ummm...no picture attached;)

Ouch 51c WITH water...something not right....

I get 39c (ambient around 19c...(I know that helps)) with an SLK-800 with a pretty high vCore.....

    too much thermal paste maybe?

    seems kind of high...

I too am leaning towards water. Thinking of building all myself (except the block)

going to start with a 1986 Chevy Chevette heater core and go from there!

You might want to take out the bottom springs on the CPU block, to get better contact with the CPU.

These are my temps for today. It got to 33C in this house today, 42c outside. This is on my 2.8GHz P4, watercooled CPU only.

Sorry pics to big need to take lower quality ones

Thanks for the info Cashy but Athalons run hotter than P4's so cant really compare.

I have my CPU/chipset and video card all being watercooled so and my 9800 always runs hot so may be pushing up the temperature.

I had a look at the paste and reapplied it but no difference.

Also there are no bottom springs.

I was happy for a while now a bit fed up :-((((

OK, that explains it, your cooling all three. Nothing to worry about. You could always add another radiator if you want, but I think you don't need it.

Oh, and welcome to the MG Extreme Cooling Club :)

Either PM me you email addy, or I'll find it on MG, and I'll send you a resizing tool for those pics.

    EDIT: Couldn't find it.

    Cheers Cashy

Since them i have reworked the pipes in the waterblocks but it doesnt make any difference to the temps.

I think a tall server case may help a bit more.

What do they say once you start you just cant stop:D

Like cashy mentioned..... since the chipset, CPU, and GPU are all on the system, the temps aren't too bad....

(by specs, they are fine!) maybe later on add another radiator... and double check to make sure you are getting good airflow through your current radiator

I think the airflow is the key

With the front off its pretty stable but with it on it warms up the room.

Im thinking of getting a full tower and sticking the Rad at the back with the sunon fan pushing air through it with another 120 fan at the front of the case pulling in cool air. ie get a wind tunnel effect

With the rad/pump/res all at the top in cool air it should drop the temps a bit.
Im also thinking of sealing the top section(watertight) with a drain out the back/side/front.

The modder in me also fancies a flame effect see through side and and top panel with a red neon and red dye in the water...god i feel like a teenager again

    How addictive is this
    :D
