Hi and welcome to MG's,

Uninstall audio driver through "programs and features" in control panel.
Check device manager and make sure it is gone from there too.
Restart computer. then go here for your Audio Driver......

select your OS in the dropdown box then select sound in the dropdown box next to it then download Realtek Driver. Re-start your machine for it to take effect.

Download the free, Speccy http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...ccy_d6358.html then run Speccy and click File > Save as Text File, then attach the log as per instructions below (note: as Speccy also now lists more data it likely will have your Windows licence serial key also in the log, so look for Operating System and under that Serial Number and delete the code and Save the log)

this will help in finding the correct chipset driver for your motherboard to assist me fixing the issue you are having with the usb ports to.

If you do not still have sound then try the Microsoft fix here....

my advice would be to run the Mr Fixit for hardware issues in Step 2.

thankyou for your suggestions for helping me. i tried them and still no sound. in device manager under sound, there is nothing.

Did you ever find a solution to the problem? I have a laptop that I'm working on that is having the exact same problems (audio and usb ports). I've tried removing the driver and installing the driver straight from Toshiba's site but no good.
