This thread is for really small downloads (Utilities mainly).
Only condition is that they MUST BE less than a 1 Megabyte download.
Even those unforunates still on dialup, or those on download plans MAY FIND THEM USEFUL.

Your contributions are most welcome.
Let us know if you have used them, and a small review might be nice.

Directory Hog is a small, free utility for Windows which will scan a drive of your choice and list the total size of each folder in a list.
The list also shows the largest file size found in the folder as well as the number of files found in the folder.

I'm all for small downloads even though I have tons of free space.

Regarding the Windows Firewall Control. We're advised to have only one firewall and I have WF and WF with Advanced Security. I don't know which one to keep but -- will the WFC program affect either of them?

Are you referring to small size programs listed at MG only? There is a site TinyApps that lists these kinds of programs as well. I don't know how well they keep things up-to-date, though.

I'm not an advocate or rep for TinyApps. It's been quite a while since I've visited that site, just happened to remember it when seeing this thread.

At a glance I do see some programs that are "download-able" here at MG.

No, I am not only referring to MG.
I guess I am "an advocate" for MG.
I prefer to download from MG, if possible, as I have been a member for over 7 years and find most of what I use from MG, in the first instance.

that runs in your system tray and provides quick access to the most frequent options used from Windows Firewall.

Jalapeno Keyfinder is a simple utility to retrieve and decrypt your Microsoft serial keys. It also includes support for several non Microsoft software titles. See the readme included for a full list of supported software.

Its smaller! (30 kb)
Its Faster! but it doesn't have the features of the full version.
Its basic and to the point now and the only dependancy is MSVBM60.dll (The VB6 Runtime that most people have anyway these days.)

There is no documentation or FAQ.

This utility displays the list of all applications that are loaded automatically when Windows starts up. For each application, the following information is displayed: Startup Type (Registry/Startup Folder),
Command-Line String, Product Name, File Version, Company Name, Location in the Registry or file system, and more.
WhatInStartup also supports a special "Permanent Disabling" feature -
If a program that you previously disabled added itself again to the startup list of Windows, WhatInStartup will automatically detect the change and disable it again.

TClockEx enhances the standard Windows taskbar clock, adding the ability to display the date, time and lots of other information in any format you like. TClockEx is highly customizable, from the format to the font and colour, and even the tooltip information. Many people have wondered why this wasn't built into the standard clock to begin with

Thanks Solaris, I know about the W7 design.
Tclockex does it all in the one line. That is the difference, and saves a bit of taskbar horizontal screen space.

Or two in one line. I just read that Tclockex doesn't want to install on Win7 64 bit, but I haven't been able to verify if that is correct or not.

I tried it on my son's W7 64 Bit and I got an error.
It doesn't appear to work on W7 64 Bit.

TRIED IT-Did not pick up the office key (W7U-32BIT-) The older tool WinGuggle (around 350kb) does pick up more -your old post (08-10-08)

I did try it at the time I listed it, but as I don't have MS Office on my new laptop, yet, so it wouldn't pick it up.

Thanks for the tip about my old post (2008 )
I will give both a re-test when I finally get my laptop set up the way I want to.
