    Hello.

As the title says, i cant use or install antivirus program in my pc. (..'is being used by another user')

I cant even search anything that has to do with 'virus' malware online scan or whatever on Web. If i do so, Web Browser will close immediately.

I cant run Malwarebyte, HijackTHis, so i cant post any log.

Im thinking to try something before resorting to reformat. Can anyone help? Sry im a new member here.:confused

I want you to try and run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also try this - download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

    Now run the below

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Hello.

I did everything in the guide Step by step. Here is the summary of what happened:

    _________________________________
    Step 1
    - skipped (unrelated)

    Step 2
    - cannot uninstall antiviruses (auto close)
    - start in safe mode
    - can uninstall (McAfee and Norton, spare Avira)

    Step 3
    - cannot open Add/remove programs
    - cannot open antivirus folder

    Step 4
    - no 'folder option' menu

    Step 5
    - Cannot open Add/remove programs

    Step 6
    - No Daemon Tools

    Step 7 --Cleaning--

    - SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebyte running normally
    - Combofix and MGtool running but with some errors:
    - Combofix:
1."CScript error: Windows Script Host access is disabled on this machine. contact your admin for detail"
2."failed to download required files. aborting..."
    - MGTool: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)"
    _________________________________

The programs on my PC are working normally again. But skipping too many steps makes me worried of potential hidden malwares. Please check the logs for confirmation.

Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    DirLook::
    C:\Documents and Settings\owner\2756E677F6

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    Download OTL to your desktop.

    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Vista and Windows 7 users Right-click OTL and choose Run as Administrator)
    • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
    • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Attach both of these logs into your next reply.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Oh my God. this 'ComboFix by sUBs ' operation is destroying my pc!

as i said in the previous post, "The programs on my PC are working normally again". but after carrying out the above suggestion, my pc keeps getting hang and stuck hence need to be restarted.

On the first attempt, my pc froze during the combofix is running. later, the freeze become more frequent and even occurred before windows could completely load.

u know some old pc has this 'doo' sound coming out when i press restart button. well, the same sound came out whenever the freezing occurs ('doo' and freeze).

i tried to run Combofix many times just to ensure that i actually DID NOT click the window that might cause it to stall. i practically leave my pc alone (after update ofcourse, if any) but the same things happened. usually the freeze happened when the window shows 'waiting to create log, wait until combofix finish'. So i assumed the operation is almost finish but Can't.

once i tried skipping combofix and start off with OTL and MGtools. OTL yield a couple of logs and MGtools can't run (error).

now im getting worried. the pc appeared to be completely healed before but thx to 'combofix by subs', its having new problem now. Pls help...:(

    So please attach them. :)
Did you read the link I provided about error message type 4?

  10. mai_hnf

    mai_hnf Private E-2

Here are the attached OTL logs from that day.

About the MGTools, the one u asked me to run in the previous post was C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat (and it can't run).

But the 'error message type 4' said nothing about that files, but MGtools.exe instead (for windows XP ofc).

So which file do i have to actually run at this current situation? MGtools.exe or GetLogs.bat?

p/s: its getting difficult to carry on the fixing now since my PC can hardly hold on long enough before the 'doo and freeze' turns out. i can't even finish installing the .NET files. zzzzz

Maybe this is why things are running slow.

    MGTools is outdated:

Now go to this MGTools and download the new version of MGtools.exe. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run the new C:\MGTools.exe and attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip

Describe what actual malware problems you are having (not talking about things running slowly) Is your antivirus running ok? Are seaches normal when surfing?

    Hi again.

Finally i managed to install the .NET files completely before the pc get to freeze.

I also got to run the newly downloaded MGtools.exe twice. The MGlogs.zip is when MGtools running with antivirus opened (u right, i forgot to turn it off =p). The MGlogs2.zip is with the antivirus turned off. See the attached files.

    To make things clear:
    a)my antivirus is running ok
    b)searches are normal when surfing
c)there is NO pc slowing down whatsoever

The only issue here is, as i am using the pc normally, at certain point, regardless of whatever program im using at that moment, the pc get into the 'dooo and freeze' state. As i was forced to restard the computer, the 'doo and freeze' event occured sooner with the number of restart i've done.

So the best time to use the pc (and carry out all these .NET and MGtools thingy) is the next morning, when i can expect longest duration for the pc to hold on before 'doo and freeze' (usually about 30 min at most). This is the problem i've been telling and it started to emerge ever since i did the 'dragging .txt script into Combofix icon' on that day, which failed to finish and also causing the very first 'doo and freeze on this pc.

    Regards.

I cannot explain that because I did not instruct combofix to delete anything. I unlocked some locked registry keys, I looked inside of a folder, and I got rid of what I assumed to be a bad start up page: hxxp://83r245rc2tzq7ps.directorio-w.com So probably something else is going on, if your hard drive is making noises like you described "doo" then I would post about it in the hardware forum.

    I'll review the logs now.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Ok i will do as instructed (finalizing). As for the newly arise problem, i will refer further to the hardware/software forum.

Thanks million for the great help so far.:)
