I was running Advanced System Care 5 beta. The second time I ran it, it said I needed to do a disk ck. I did and it came up with this error
Correcting Error in Index $Sll File 9- I had to reboot and then it did a Disk Check corrected the problem and the computer restarted. The next time I used ASC5 the same problem appeared. I fixed it again. Then it was suggested I delete ASC5 using Rev uninstaller and then doing a ckdsk/r
I did as suggested and it said it fixed all the errors again. I then did the complete read and run program.
I am not sure what the problem is and why this kept happening and what $Sll File is.

I am attaching the requested files.

I deleted ASC5 beta so I cannot check if I am still having that problem. I had some trouble finding MG tools log, however, I think I found it.
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi mladyraven,

I am not finding any malware in your logs.

The Index $Sll File 9 line is something you would see reported by chkdsk. As far as what it is actually referencing to, I do not know. My best guess would be that there is a bad and/or failing sector on the hard drive.

You may try running a more powerful hard drive diagnostic tool such as Spinrite v6 as it sometimes able to correct bad sectors on the hard drive (better than chkdsk c: /r at least)

I would not worry about it though. It's not causing you any problems from the sound of it. I would not worry too much about what Advanced System Care 5 reports in the first place.

Thanks, my concern would be this Hard Drive is about a month old! It is a Seagate I bought for 79 dollars at Fry's. Nothing should be failing at this point. I saw a few things that were picked up , however, I am assuming you are saying the Trojan that was found and deleted is not a problem.
I will run the program, however, does anyone else know what this problem could be, this is not something that should be happening on a month old HD. Thanks.Where do I find this Spinrite v6? I read it is to help read badly failing HD's. If this is the case then I bought a defective Hard Drive. Thank you

Edit It is a Hitachi Sata 2
    7200RPM
    1 Terabyte
The Seagate is my external hard drive.
    Thanks

Correct. There's not any more traces of malware in your logs.
For some reason I thought it was freeware at first. Due to legal reasons I cannot post where to obtain it.
If it was truly defective you would not even be able to boot up using it. I was only suggesting it might have 1 bad sector on it, but there are hundreds of thousands of sectors on a 1TB drive.

Also as I was stating earlier, if it's not causing you any real trouble -- I would not worry about it. Just because ASC5 is telling you there are problems with the hard drive does not necessarily mean they are true. For instance, I can link you to some registry scanning programs that will tell you that you have 1000+ registry errors. Does this mean you actually have 1000 registry errors or ANY registry errors for that matter -- No.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis if it present
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Virus program found two more Trojans. Am going to do a disk check again, run throw all my malware programs and then do the final step if I do not find anything. McAfee says there were two trojans removed but does not keep the name in the report.
It was Artemis something , I saw it when it removed it. Then an hour later it removed it again.
I am hearing a strange noise from the Hard Drive. Being it is only 6 weeks old I am trying to find a way to make sure this is not a bad hard drive.
Is the Check Dis R the only way?
    Thanks for your help

Typically a failing hard drive will either cause the PC to lock up randomly or won't boot up at all, or give you some type of BSOD like 0XED.
Or you'll start hearing *clicking* noises coming from the hard drive. >> http://www.youtube.com/v/MudkfXQ_E2A&hl=en_US

I cannot verify this if you do not attach some sort of log or inform me where it found "Artemis" as that is just the type of names McAfee uses to label certain infections. There should be a file path no matter what.

What actual problems are you having though? Is the PC operating normally and it's just the results of certain programs that are worrying you?

    1. There is no way to tell you what the virus was. All I know is I was working and twice in a 2 hour period McAfee popped up and said, removed virus Artemis ?????? and then I did a scan the report says 2 Trojans found but does not name them. I can only print the report, not cut and paste it, plus, it does not name them in the report which makes the report useless.

    2. It has been making a "clicking noise" It started the first week and then it went away. The sound is back now, It seems to start that clicking noise whenever I am doing heavy work on the computer or have several files open - it sounds like the computer is working to hard is the only way I can describe it.

Yesterday, it locked up 2-3 times for about a minute or so. The computer was frozen , but then it unlocked and I was able to close the pages.

Today when I started the computer.. it went to the scan disk page automatically and said, there is ? to be checked on one of the disks and we strongly suggest you do a check disk. It did the check disk and all was fine. Now the clicking sound is gone, for now.... I will write more when it returns.
I do not know exactly what the start up page said, because I started it up and then went into another room, expecting it to be ready to work when I started it. It was almost done with the check disk when I came in and it went by two fast for me to write it down. I shut the computer off, thinking it might do it again, however, this time it went straight to windows. However, I find it interesting the sound is now gone.

If there is a problem I am going to have to try to find someone to take it out and bring it back to Fry's to exchange. Or maybe the company. I think I only had 30 days to exchange in the store and that time is passed. They want 100 dollars to switch out which I do not have I am ill and on disability. So, I am hoping this is not a Lemon of a Hard Drive I
Thanks for your time and patience. I am in my late 50's , have a serious illness and am alone, so, I am teaching myself with the help of the site.

McAfee must have been able to remove those Trojans it was referring to because the logs you attached are all clean.

The clicking noise is somewhat random at times. One of my work computers would click and on off for about 6 months before it finally completely died.

I know which screen you are talking about. This typically happens when the computer was turned off improperly.
No problem. Best of luck to you. I hope you get it all sorted out. :major

Well, being this Hard Drive is 5 weeks old it sounds like I have a problem. I don't need it dying in 6 months. It should be working perfectly, it cost 70 dollars and it is only 5 weeks old. So, I guess their is a problem with my hard drive.

EX today I used it for 8 hours, after about 6 hours it started to make that clicking sound again. It sounds like it is working too hard. So, I decided to do a Check Disk. I did it and the sound is now gone.. This is making no sense. Do I need to post about this in hardware, I don't know what to do.
I live in San Diego, CA. Maybe I can find someone inexpensive to look at it. This is frustrating I thought getting the new HD would fix things. It only froze up once today for a minute.

The symptoms you've described to me at least do make it sound like a Hardware issue. You may wish to post there to seek additional advice.
