I read several warnings here about the System Restore trojan so I searched my computer.

The System Restore I have says it's by Windows. Is this true or is it a trojan?

I scanned it with MSE and it found no problems.

I used to run XP and some documents transferred to Vista were created on XP.

Since we don't really know what you are looking at, we have no idea how to answer this. However System Restore is a valid feature of Windows and uses the System Volume Information folder to save system restore points in. A System Restore Trojan has nothing to do with this Windows feature and I would expect that you would know if you had this trojan due to all the problems it causes.

    Many thanks.

You've set my mind at rest. I believe it is the true Windows program because MSE didn't find anything and other scans haven't shown it up as a problem.
