Default Remove printer software before new one?

I have it on good authority that I'm going to get a new printer for Christmas. Should I remove the old printer software? If so, should I do it before I install the new printer's software?
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hi frybo yes it is always best to uninstall the drivers for the printer before installing your new drivers for your new printer.
And a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to you

XP does a pretty good job of plug and play, you can delete later.

What if they bought you an aquarium instead?

Talking

You can run two printers
so to leave drivers should not hurt
just in case you get bag of coal in that printer box

Now I'm concerned because, you see, what I got for Christmas this morning was a kiss from my wife. Our family Christmas, with all the presents, won't be until Saturday. So now I have to worry until then about what is in the box!
