Default Windows 7 Booting Problems

Hi,

I'm having a major issue booting my Dell laptop in normal mode with Windows 7. After I type in my password, the welcome just keeps loading and loading. I got to the point of waiting one hour before force rebooting the laptop in safe mode. However, I have no issues booting in safe mode.

When I checked my Event Viewer, I see a few error messages. Here are the following 10 error messages that I hope someone can assist me with:

1) Event 10005, DistributedCom - DCOM got error "1068" attempting to start the service fdPHost with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{D3DCB472-7261-43CE-924B-0704BD730D5F}

2) Event 10005, DistributedCom - DCOM got error "1068" attempting to start the service fdPHost with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{145B4335-FE2A-4927-A040-7C35AD3180EF}

3) Event 7001, Service Control Manager - The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start.

4) Event 7001, Service Control Manager - The HomeGroup Provider service depends on the Function Discovery Provider Host service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start.

5) Event 10005, DistributedCom - DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments "" in order to run the server:

6) Event 10005, DistributedCom - DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{9E175B6D-F52A-11D8-B9A5-505054503030}

7) Event 10005, DistributedCom - DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B726-00C04FB926AF}

8) Event 10005, DistributedCom - DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service ShellHWDetection with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{DD522ACC-F821-461A-A407-50B198B896DC}

9) Event 10000, WLAN-AutoConfig - WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start.

Module Path: C:\Windows\System32\IWMSSvc.dll
Error Code: 21

10) Event 7026, Service Control Manager - The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
aswSnx
aswSP

I've already run my MalwareBytes and AntiSpyware scans in safe mode and there are no malicious items detected in any of the scans. I also have Avast (free edition) as my antivirus. Generally, I've followed safe net surfing habits, so I sort of doubt it's a malware issue.

I would really appreciate any expert advice on how to fix this booting issue. I can't keep working on safe mode forever!

Boot into safe mode and try uninstalling Avast from Control Panel > Programs and Features. There's also an uninstaller available at http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility if this doesn't work. Use safe mode with networking if you haven't got access to another computer.
After uninstallation, see if you can now boot as normal. Check the event viewer to see if the previous errors are still reported.
If all goes well, download the latest version of Avast and install.

Hi nullptr,

I managed to uninstall Avast, and I was able to boot normally -- though it still took about 20-30 seconds for that Welcome screen to load. Perhaps I'm being a bit sensitive?

Can you please explain why Avast would create this error?

I looked at my Event Viewer, and I notice there is one more error:

Event 1, VDS Basic Provider - Unexpected failure. Error code: 490@01010004

Any one know how I can fix this error? Thanks!

Have any type of virtual drive software installed? Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120, Virtual Clone, etc?

Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling that application.
