    Hi Guys,

I am trying to speed up my laptop as much as possible, by removing any software I dont need or use, and by keeping my system clean, OCD style, I regularly use CCLeaner, etc but I am very skeptical when messing with the startup list which contains the following....

    Yes HKCU:Run AdobeBridge
Yes HKCU:Run Google Update Google Inc. "C:\Users\Luthius\AppData\Local\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe" /c
    Yes HKCU:Run Mobile Partner C:\Program Files (x86)\WEB Partner\WEB Partner

Yes HKLM:Run ASUSPRP ASUSTek Computer Inc. "C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\APRP\APRP.EXE"
    Yes HKLM:Run ATKMEDIA ASUS C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Package\ATK Media\DMedia.exe
    Yes HKLM:Run ATKOSD2 ASUS C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Package\ATKOSD2\ATKOSD2.exe
    Yes HKLM:Run avast AVAST Software "C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\avastUI.exe" /nogui
    Yes HKLM:Run BCSSync Microsoft Corporation "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\BCSSync.exe" /DelayServices
    Yes HKLM:Run BTMTrayAgent Microsoft Corporation rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Bluetooth\btmshell.dll",TrayApp
Yes HKLM:Run ETDCtrl ELAN Microelectronics Corp. %ProgramFiles%\Elantech\ETDCtrl.exe
    Yes HKLM:Run HControlUser ASUS C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Package\ATK Hotkey\HControlUser.exe
Yes HKLM:Run HotKeysCmds Intel Corporation C:\Windows\system32\hkcmd.exe
Yes HKLM:Run IgfxTray Intel Corporation C:\Windows\system32\igfxtray.exe
    Yes HKLM:Run IntelTBRunOnce Microsoft Corporation wscript.exe //b //nologo "C:\Program Files\Intel\TurboBoost\RunTBGadgetOnce.vbs"
Yes HKLM:Run Persistence Intel Corporation C:\Windows\system32\igfxpers.exe
    Yes HKLM:Run RtHDVBg Realtek Semiconductor C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVBg64.exe /SF3
    Yes HKLM:Run RtHDVCpl Realtek Semiconductor C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVCpl64.exe -s
    Yes HKLM:Run SunJavaUpdateSched Sun Microsystems, Inc. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exe"
Yes HKLM:Run SwitchBoard Adobe Systems Incorporated C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SwitchBoard\SwitchBoard.exe
    Yes HKLM:Run Wireless Console 3 ASUS C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\Wireless Console 3\wcourier.exe
Yes Startup User FancyStart daemon.lnk C:\Users\Luthius\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Installer\{C944B4C5-1C4D-4D95-8AC0-7CEF13914131}\_77B5857C27147149171BE7.exe

What I was wandering is, what can I disable/remove in this list so not so much is booting all at once, which should increase boot time performance, and maybe a little overall performance, plus free up resources to be used for software I actually do use...

Do not use MSCONFIG to disable start up programmes, go here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and download Autoruns it is extremely easy to use.

    Disable all the Adobe stuff.
    Keep the Avast Antivirus
    Keep the Windows\System stuff
Disable all the C:\Program Files\ entries
    Keep IntelTBRunOnce Microsoft Corporation wscript.exe //b //nologo "C:\Program Files\Intel\TurboBoost\RunTBGadgetOnce.vbs"
    Keep RtHDVBg Realtek Semiconductor C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVBg64.exe /SF3

    Keep RtHDVCpl Realtek Semiconductor C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVCpl64.exe -s

I would be inclined to disable this one too: Startup User FancyStart daemon.lnk C:\Users\Luthius\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Installer\{C944B4C5-1C4D-4D95-8AC0-7CEF13914131}\_77B5857C27147149171BE7.exe

Check on the Asus site what each entry does.

Awesome, Thank you very much! I did exactly what you recommended and rebooted, noticable diffirence straight away, I used CCLeaner to disable them for the moment, incase it had an undesirable effect, but sure enough, much quicker boot time and more responsive at desktop when it first loads, unlike before, where it took a minute or 2 to think, then allow me to use it! :)

Since you already have CCleaner, I would use its Startup manager under Tools. It will probably show you more startup items than msconfig does.
