New to forum. Have solution to OutF removal

    I was motivated to sign up because I have a solution to the removal of OutFox TV, which I found came up on every tab. I hated it.
    I wrote Outfox and was told this. (it actually worked!)

    NEW TAB SETTING - FIREFOX

    The new tab in Firefox may also open the website <snip>. To reset this type the following in your Firefox browser address bar:

    about:config then <enter>

    then in the search box enter :

    browser.newtab.URL

    Double click on the line / field for browser.newtab.URL

    You can then change the value of the new tab to be anything you require.

    This worked.

    Thanks for your post. Yes the about.config script in Firefox can be helpful to locate a large variety of unwanted entries. We sometimes use it but more frequently do not because there are simply thousands of problem junkware programs and literally hundreds of different entries in Firefox that can get corrupted. It would just require too many special procedures to document all of them. Thus if our standard cleaning procedures do not remove the problems ( and they have for OutFox TV ) would would simply recommend the below as a fast approach

    Reset Firefox to Defaults

    And similar resets to defaults are often recommended in Chrome and less frequently in Internet Explorer.

    I am a green computer user. I use it because it opens so many worlds to me, but I am a low techie type. Instead, I bend to the artistic. I frequently struggle when I run into these incomprehensible (to me) computer glitches and their unexplainable eccentricities. They drive me crazy.
