Hi I could use some help please.
I bought a google chromecast I had to use my ipad to connect and cast. It worked fine. I have a wireless network on a router Cisco.
My question is, my desktop PC is hooked to my wireless router to make it wireless. I can't get google chromecast to cast from my desktop PC. It says wifi turned off. I am hooked to a wireless network. Any help thank you in advance.

    Casting a chrome tab?

    Are you using multiple routers?

No just Cisco router which is wireless. I also have Time warner cable modem for my internet, but it is not wireless.
Want to control casting on my desktop not IPad

What is the IP address of your Chromecast and what is the IP address of your desktop?

The last numbers of IP on desktop pc are different from IPad but only the last ones. They are still on the same network

So your desktop is wired to the router?

Is there also a wifi card present in the machine?

I wasn't very clear on that.

Yes, desktop is wired to the wireless router. No wifi card. The router makes my desktop wireless from my home network.

Well, I can tell you how I have solved similar issues.

I have two Chromecasts, but I also use two routers, with one being in bridge mode. Despite being on the same subnet, I could not connect to the chromecast, even though both were connected to the same wireless router (the bridged router is for my NAS).

Anyway, long story short, it turned out my ethernet connection to my NAS was a higher priority than my wifi connection. I had to move the priority of my wifi to the top. Mind you, this is a Mac, but this could also affect a Windows machine. Check and see if you have any additional network adapters. If you do, try disabling them (right click, disable in device manager).

Otherwise, firewalls can cause this issue too. Try dropping your firewall and rebooting your machine (keeping the firewall off on boot up).

I did all that also, but thank you. I have researched this for three days and tried and tried with no luck.
I don't have additional network adapters. The only thing that shows in my network infrastructure is wireless router. And in Device mgn just realtek family contorler

    Ahhh.

What is the IP address of your desktop?

Can you also try a traceroute to the chromecast?

    Yes, been there too.

You have some invalid commands in there.

ipconfig /all will show your IP info.

ping 192.168.x.x, where the address is your chrome address.

tracert 192.168.x.x, where the address is your chrome address.

Well, assuming that the IP address you are pinging is correct, something on your desktop is blocking it.

Because you are wired to your router, you can try SafeMode with Networking.

Reboot your computer and as soon ad it reboots start tapping F8.

Choose safe mode with networking and then try the same ping and tracert tests
Remember, there is a space between the command and the address.

Let me know your results please.
