spybot help

everytime i scan my comp with spybot s&d, it always finds "back web lite" which is always a randon shortcut icon on my desktop, and i need some help plz!

SpyBot doesn't automatically place a "check mark" next to Backweblite items, so you may be trying to fix without having them checked (you need to check them manually). Their is a reason for this : Backweblite is both good and bad. Some legitimate companies use it to update their software (HP, Compaq, Logitech, Kodak, and others) while some use it for pure spying. If you delete the "good" entries, then your software updaters won't work anymore (no big deal... you can always update by going to their web sites directly). So, you can "search" your hard drive for all instances of Backweblite, and verify which are legit, and delete the bad ones. Or, remove all software updaters that use it and delete all entries of Backweblite that you find. Your call!

Hi Painless Are you running spywareblaster in conjunction with SpyBot? The folks at Spybot reccommend it. I'd advise D/L-ing it and using it in the background. It's non-obtrusive and uses very little resources. It has an even more extensive "innoculate" list than Spybot. May keep the bad icon from reasserting itself everytime you boot up--after you delete the file of course
