You have a case of Browser Hijack Nickson..... take Ad-Aware once followed by a glass of HiJackthis and take the day off ;)

in seriousness.... Run Ad-aware remove what it finds then run HijackThis and look for entries reguarding My Search Now and remove them.... reboot and open IE again, if they are still their and you use XP or ME then turn off System Restore and follow the above again.... if its not gone post the Hjackthis log here.

HOW its as easy as clicking a link to an infected webpage and shazam! your homepage in infected... sometimes you get popups that say click here to close.. these then behind your back install small links to various websites normaly poor web search pages....

WHY.. well people make money out of doing this... some of the sites have adverts on and with a multitude of popups that some have you are bound to click 1 and that generates money for them.

This is something that is being looked at now... how sucessful they will be in stopping it who knows http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/features/2004/apr04/04-20Spyware.asp

one thing you can do to limit this happening is to install SpywareBlaster its small and in-obtrusive but helps you having these types of things being installed in the first place... http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2859

have you run those programs both me and Billy mentioned?

Get this and use it, as Halo says, it is one of the best out there. Most of us use it like putting on our shoes. YEs
