Default Norton Antivirus Definitions

I have the Norton antivirus 2002 and was wondering when I download the definitions how to get them in to the antivirus software cos when I double click on the app it does not install itself into Norton or anything like that.

Do any of these articles help:

Alternatively, uninstall Norton and download one of the free anti-virus from here:

suggest one of Avast!, AVG or AntiVir.

Is your Norton's subscription up to date?
