Default Houston We Have A Problem!

Now that I have your attention, the problem is with my Disk Cleanup.

Your TEMP files might get in the way, not sure.

i found that if you turn view all files and folders on and manually delete the temp. files in documents and settings >temporary internet files and then try disc cleanup, it runs so much quicker. my server computer took over 20 mins to pick up everything in disc cleanup and i never saw the outcome, so i manually deleted the temp. files, cleared my history, ran a defrag and hey disc cleanup works, no problems!

another way to delete your temp files is if you're using IE, then click tools>internet options> delete files.

ok when i run adaware i delete everything it finds, but check to make sure it's not an important file - rarely is!
also, have you got an up-to-date virus scanner on there? anything like AVG free edition should do you fine.

you should also run "C-Cleaner", "Empty Temp." and "Cleanup!" at least once a day to ensure your system is stable.
i'm unsure as to why 71,185KBfiles won't compress, as mine always compress to 0, - hmmmm...
have you defragged recently too?

think about the language "COMPRESS OLD FILES" .. today is older than yesterday is it not? the default is 50 days. So more files are added the list every day after 50 days. Depening on the size of the files, your KB could increase slowly or quickly. The "OLD FILES" is actually referring to files that have not been accessed in a specified amount of time.
You have 69.5 MB of files that are older than the alotted time for not being accessed.

O.K. thanks for the input. I just wanted to make sure no viruses, trojans, or other malware was preventing this from going down to zero. I just never seemed to have a problem in the past, that's all.

Well, what's preventing it from going to 0 is you. everytime you check that box it adds more to the compressed files total byte count. If you want compressed files to be zero then uncompress those files that were compressed.
