SOny VAIO Issue

I have an issue with a SONY VAIO PCV-V1. After updating the Norton Internet Security and rebooting it starts up with an error message:

Hardware monitor found an error. Enter Power Setup menu for details.
Press F2 to enter Setup.

11/21/2003-SiS651-PIZZA

After going into Setup and resetting the Hardware Monitor to Defaults the machine reboots and gives the same error message.

Recovery disk ditto.

Seems like maybe a virus? Anyone have an idea? I would really appreciate some help.
