I backed up several folders of family photos onto a CD-R (memorex). I used it once to copy some of the pictures to another PC (Acer) for editing. When I put it back in the original PC, it would not read. When I put the CD back in the Acer pc, It brought up the audio station program and tried to play music off the CD. Can anyone tell me what happened to the CD? Are the files still there and can I get to them? Thanks. I have a Compaq Presario SR1020nx, with a 2.80 ghz Intel Celeron processor, 1024 mb ram, 80 gb Ultra DMA hard Drive, running Windows XP home edition SP2 (yeah, this is the same POS that crashed on me in December)

I'm asuming you used NERO or such. Depends how you burned the cd, meaning as in bootable dics, files, mp3's and such.
There isn't a great deal you can do but try and have it opened on some other pc. Ignore the pop up with Media Player or whatever comes on and just find it.

    2. Directory of a cd (CD-RW) for example
If you do menage do get your files back somehow, in the futer remember to either use a different cd for mp3's, photos etc. Check also if you did burn anything at all :) sounds silly but it happens and always i repeat always burn at the slowest speed possible, at least half of the native speed.
