I'm running out the door, late for class, so anyway...

I turned on my PC this morning.

All is well, it boots to the welcome screen.

Then I find. my Razer mouse is not responding.

I go to reboot from the Welcome screen.

It brings up the shutdown menu, and then freezes.

    Lock up?

--Maybe. I hit my num lock key. It turns on and off.

    I hit the power.

Turned it off, waited a bit, then back on.

    No keyboard present error.

Hmmm... keyboard flashes for a split second when powering up then stays off.

    Switched USB ports.

    Same problem.

    Used my PS2 keyboard.

The keyboard appears to have died. While another computer powers it up, it simply does not work.

Ok, now I can get in. However, I noticed something. The green power LED on the front of my tower is flashing. It is green, but its flashing, on/off, on/off etc.

    What I do know:
    --Its not software related.

What I do not know: What the flashing power LED is all about. I cna look it up, but I'm running late for class.

    Specs:

    Asus A7N8X 2.0
    Antec True 480w PSU
    Athlon XP 2500+
    1gb PC 2700 DDR
    ATI X800 Pro
    onboard sound, nic, etc
    2 x 80gb ATA133 and ATA 100 Hard drives

That should be the pertinent stuff.

    Ideas?

    Possibly relevant (although unlikely) info:

    CPU temp: 54c
    vcore 1.68v
    +5 voltage 4.94
    +12 voltage 11.96

I really am curious about this flashing LED.

    Forget it.

My PS/2 keyboard just died as well, after letting me into the BIOS.

The motherboard appears to be dying. Thats about the only thing that explains it.

    Ugh.

Shoot, the one time Adrynalyne asks for help, and he answers his own question. :( :)

Sorry to hear about your Motherboard. But your data should all be safe, right? I hope so, anyway.

it does sound like your mobo is dying
those low voltages on the line meens the mobo is taking more volts then it should, cause your psu is good...
    good luck dude

    Those aren't low voltages.

    They are within spec.

One them shows as negative in my post. Thats a typo ;)

Its gotta be the keyboard controller.

    54 Celsius????????????

I think that your CPU is a little warm there.

Unsure about exact temperature, but I come up with 129.2° F

Its within normal operating temperature. I'm using a retail heatsink and fan.

Besides, if the CPU was overheating, I'd see a complete system failure, not just the keyboard.

    I may have found something.

The flashing LED is the same when the system is in standby.

Being that it is not entirely a software function, I put the system into standby, and then resumed it.

THe blinking LED is now gone.

    My original usb keyboard works.

It would appear the motherboard was still not in a fully powered state...or something.

WIll it stay working? Time will tell I guess ;)
