Please can any of you guys give me advice on which processor I should go for....I am in the early stages of buying a laptop and would like to know which is better, I am confused by the speed with the M processor appearing to be slower looking at the specs. ie. Pentium 4 3ghz or Pentium M 1.4ghz

    Thanks

depends what you want, if you want pure speed, go for the P4, if you want mobility, a light notebook, integrated wireless networking, and a insane battery life go for the Pentium M
IMHO, the Pentium M are almost as fast, as they are faster clock for clock then the P4, due to being betterly designed

The pentium M has: (M For mobile)

    IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® M Processor with 2-MB L2 Cache and 533-MHz Front Side Bus Datasheet.

And pentium 4 has a 1-MB L2 -Cache and 800 or 1033 front side bus.
