Convert cassette tape music to CD via computer

What would I need to be able to convert the music I have on cassette tapes to cd with my computer? :

I actually have a similar question, and as they can probably be fixed with the same solution, I'll post mine here too!

How can I transfer my LP's to cd's? My LP-player sucks, I've decided to retire it. Many of the LP's I have can't be found on CD though, and I hate the thought of not being able to play those goodies again. What would I need to get the sound from the LP's into the computer and down to a CD, and get fairly good sound?

I hope it would be legal to do it, but as it is just for private backup purposes I'm hoping it is!

For video you would need one of them big old camcoders to go transfer trough firewire so my thought is as good as yours. Cassete recorder perhaps.
You have to keep in mind when transfering something like that onto a cd or dvd the quality won't get any better it will pretty much stay the same.

or depending on your deck(s) for cassette & LPs, electronics stores - like Radio shack sell many cables.. 1/8' to 1/8' for mini plug (say a walkman) to your sound card mic or from the stereo out left/right to mini plug in sound card like this one. . Just watch the input!! And use Windows Sound Recorder or Cool Edit, ect to record..

Also for LPs Roxio Easy CD use to have some converter - (I never tried it) but they packaged the cable and software that would remove pop & hiss.

This is exactly what I need!! I check it out and the cost is good too. My mom has about 100 tapes of bluegrass music (yep you read that right) and they can't be found any longer on cassette so I want to be able to put them to cd for her. Wonderful!!! :D
