Extra drive that has appeared as if from nowhere

Yesterday I unplugged my CD and DVD-r drives, and plugged in an old Hard Drive to copy some stuff off it. Since putting it back to normal I have noticed an extra drive has appear. The properties show it is a "AXV CD/DVD-ROM SCSI CD-ROM Device". I have uninstalled it countless times but it keeps coming back. What is it and how do I get rid of it?

What kind of CD drive and DVD drive do you have? (Brand and model)

Also did you plug the cables back in right?

In your Device Manager how many cd rom devices are listed, and under what category?

 

Phillips PCRW5232P cdrw
HL-DT-ST dvd (came with pc)
Both workin fine
These, and the new one, are listed in DVD/CDROM Drives section.

Did you have a Virtual Cd-rom program on the old drive?

Are any of your components SCSI?

 

No components are scsi. Don't know if there was a virtual cd prog on the other one, it wasn't mine

 

Check your BIOS settings and see if you have anything that might cause Windows to falsely detect a drive that isn't there, and to see if you BIOS is detecting this drive also. If your BIOS detects an SCSI drive, you might have a hardware issue. You might also want to run some anti-virus, and spyware programs to see if maybe there was a trojan on that drive that may have infected your PC.
