Hello all, Just wondering where I could get some Termalpaste, or something simlar/better then this, because I was thinking about upgrading my CPU-Cooler into something alot better (See below), does anyone have any idea's? I was looking at this one? - http://www.pcwcomponentcentre.co.uk/invt/cmacbv83u1

I know it's AMD, and I have P4 but this is just a guide-line, if anyone could tell me in detail good this is, or post some links for TermalPaste or good CPU-Coolers, would be great. Thanks!

Woah, that's just about the coolest looking CPU fan I've ever seen! Congrats on your choice. I hope it's quieter than it looks, though. I try to get parts that are listed on www.endpcnoise.com because I use my PC for digital audio, so noise is a big issue for me. The most popular thermal paste I've encountered in my searches is Arctic Silver. But you can get some Akasa Silver from the same company you're getting your cooler from, and it will probably save you money on shipping. Some CPU coolers actually come with a small amount of paste.

    Cheers

The heatsink you're thinking about is all about looks (poor reviews). I think noise to cooling ratio is more important. Arctic silver 5 is one of the best thermal compounds available.

ApM........I went with the CoolerMaster Dream3 rig. It's an aluminum heat sink with a copper slug insert. The fan is DEAD SILENT even at full high speed. I pulled the terminals out of my original fans connector, and transfered the yellow wire from the new fan into it. Then, using the molex adapter that came with the fan, I connected it to a molex plug (for full out running), then plugged the yellow wire into the mobo jack. The fan lead wires are easily "zipped" apart like an extension cord wire is. That allows the fan to run at full speed, and satisfies the fan monitor on boot up (if your mobo has it). It comes with METAL spring mounting clips instead of those crappy plastic ones found on some OEM designs. My processor used to run at 86F at idle, and peak out at 111F during heavy CPU use. With the Dream3, I idle at 80F, and peak out at 104F during heavy CPU use. Only thing I DID notice after the new setup, was my case temp increased more than the OEM setup. I'm guessing because I'm now dispersing more heat off the CPU chip. Addition of one of those PCI slot type fans brought that back down.
Once you alter the original setup, you really have to play around to find the right arrangement of fans and such. I was lucky cuz my case came with a ducted intake fan, that directed right over the processor sink.
