Hope someone can help...A couple of days ago a friend received the following message while trying to boot her pc "0 Drive Working out of parameter on the Primary IDE". She shut down the pc. Now upon reboot the system stops at press f1 to retry or press f2 for utilities. Pressing f1 brings you right back to this point, pressing f2 does get you into the bios. Not sure what to look for in the bios to help diagnosis the problem. My first guess is the drive is bad. This is a Dell GX240 running Windows 2000. The drive is a 40gb EIDE, 7200 RPM, ATA/100. Have done quite a few searches for this error message but have been unsuccessful finding troubleshooting tips. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Is the BIOS set to autodetect the Hard drive?

Make sure all of your plugs are secure on the drive.

If this doesn't help another option would be to plug the hard drive into another computer as a slave and see if it is accesible. This doesn't mean it isn't failing but will give you the oportunity to save any needed data.
