Another DNS error problem

the problem: i have internet access, and i can view most of the internet, except my main e-mail ( login.express.cites.uiuc.edu), aol mail, and i also can't download anything from Download.com. AIM is also not working, as are other secure websites.

i've run the HOw to: spyware, torjan, and virus removal, and the computer is now clean.

i've tried installing the Java, but the download in the middle of the install seems to freeze. I have also already gone through the first two pages of a search (keyword: DNS error) on this forum and have tried pretty much everything already suggested.

i'm running XP (sp2) ( and the firewall that comes with it)

I get internet service from EGIX.

the error i get is the standard "page cannot be displayed"

I have also tried acessing from Firefox, but it still doesn't work.

 

i dont know if it is the problem but have you tried disabling the firewall and trying?

 

yup i have and did it again ( at this point i'll try anything again), still not working
