cpu failed after digital fan controller install

ive been looking on the net for days trying to find whats going on with my system
i bought a digital fan controller from xoxide.com installed it best i could with the junky directions...
turned my computer on it went to a dos like screen said cpu failed computer will now shut off.
so i pluged my fans back to the m.b. and it starts fine.
so i hooked it all back up agian same thing cpu has failed it says
so ive been searching the net havent found much other than the connector used inline with the controller and fan to send signal to the m.b. well i have that hooked up its just a yellow and black wire so i left those unhooked same thing, then i tried going to the bois to turn off fan dection cant be done with this system you all have any ideals on what i should do ?

so anyone know how to keep my computer from giving the cpu failed when controller is hooked up?

What does it do if you just connect a 3 pin connector (not attached to anything) to the cpu connector, most likely give you the same error. do you have any old small fans you could use as a dummy connection?

 

nah didnt make a differance i ordered a new 3 pin fan to put on the motherboard hope this works, still does not make sence to me why the mother board does not pick up the rpm of the fan with the adaptor and controller tho,owell lol thats what i get for trying to take short cuts
i still wonder if i cut the black wire going to the m.b. and just left the yellow if it would work ? anyone know?

 

Get one of these, should take care of your problem, doesn't have to be Antec.

There could be a setting in your BIOS for your CPU
fan controller. If it doeesnt "see" a a connection it might
shut itself off.

 

alm350 tried that, couldn't find an option to turn off the CPU fan detection, if the part listed below is used, it will allow the fan controller to work and let the MOBO know there is a CPU fan attached.

 

thanks for all the help i found out why my m.b. would not read the fan when hooked through the f.c.i have a digital fan controller and it sends pulses to the fan the rpm wire would send pulses to the m.b. causing it to think the fan was bad and not working or shutting on and off,thanks for the link ruebarb, the new fans i orderd came with the 4 to 3 adaptor's still didnt work with them either same pulsing problem, so i just left the old fans hooked up with 1 facing the h.d and the larger 80mm fan on my mem. chips and hooked up the p.4 blower and new case fans to my controller works great now cpu under full load has never went above 103 deg. F.

p.s. lesson learned never buy a h.p. and try to mod it lmao

 

Hmm... I use those little Xoxide dudes in all of my pcs and never had a problem with 'em. Sorry to hear about yours. I just use it to monitor temps tho.. I don't even know if it has adjustment capabilities cuz I use the same, Zalman controllers for that...
