Dormmates Compaq P. reboots at system start-up screen

    s4000V COmpaq Presario
    Windows XP, Standard Edition
    Intel Pentium 4 Processor
    CD-Rom
    No additions to the computer except standard hardware

    Dormmate's Computer starts up, goes to Compaq start-up screen, then defaults to black screen with white cursor. Idles for a few moments, then repeats the process. Attempts to enter safe mode failed. Computer doesn't respond to any keyboarding.

    Since it's not my computer, assumptions needed to be backed-up by MajorGeeks. Thanks a lot.
