Mouse changes speeds

Lately on my computer at random times it seems my mouse changes its speed. Hard to explain exactly but It will go from sensative to having to move the mouse across the pad 3 times to get it across the screen.

I checked the connections and the settings and everything seems right.

Not sure where to start with a problem like this.

 

Is it an older mouse? Sometimes older mice will mess up and do weird thigns like that.

Or if it's a ball mouse then just clean it, ball mice do that all the time.
