i have full re-formated hard drive, and the drivers for the wireless keyboard stayed, that tell me that the mother board could hold infomation.
the problem is sometimes when i move the cursor it opens the start menu and stuts down most open windows, i run all the steps in the other part of this forum and it has clead up heaps but this problem is still here and nothing can find a problem......

You reformated meaning you installed a fresh copy right?
Keyboard, monitors etc. tend to use the windows drivers so that's why they are there. As for the mainboard No it cannot its nothing to do with it. The virus goes onto the hard disk within the Os. Format = wipe
Maybe you accidently press the start menu because quite possibly you have insuficant ram and at startup if you have to many processes it takes a while to load thus opening them later on and leading you to beleive it actually opened.

Its probably what i said. I mean a clean drive, then an install. If you had something you would have wiped it off.

Do you have alot of processes at start-up or processes runing in genereral and IS YOUR RAM SUFFICENT and cable of doing the job.

Taking a guess since you have Xp pro you have 256mb?
Perhaps your mouse is losing calibration and has a mind of its own.

I guess I don't know then. I have about 60 start-up processes and I get the start buton poping out ocassionally even though i have a gig of ram but that's only because i actually click on it. So That's an option, calibration is another, sometimes keyboard will skitz or mouse = delayed action.
For that long, im not so sure about it.
I seriously doubt you would have cought something since you say you use protection and its a fresh install, unless you are that unlucky.
Anyway i will let the other be open for suggestions.
    Good luck though.

this is rare.. but if youre using a back up of a OS disk, and the machine you made it with had a bug it could have gotten onto the backup thus when you install the os you also install the bug.. Ive seen this happen and only way to solve it is to use a clean install disk.
