COLUMBUS, Georgia (AP) -- A father fatally stabbed his two young children and seriously wounded three others with a hunting knife before committing suicide by slitting his own throat, police said.

What posseses someone to do these things. Children.. man, when I hear about little kids getting killed by their parents it makes me literally sick to my stomach. I don't understand why people do these things..

I don't see why they can't just go off somewhere and kill themselves. If they want the others to 'suffer' how does killing them too make sense? : Very very sad. I have been in 2 situations like that myself, unfortunatley. It is sickening.

A father stabbed his daughter as they were driving, because she told him she was going to live with her boyfriend. He tried to pretend she stabbed herself. He took about two hours to show up at the hospital, with her still in the passenger seat, seatbelt on, dead. It's before the courts now in BC.

What gets me is what goes through the mind of the kid in those last moments, when the man who has looked after you your whole life, who you trust more than anyone else, turns on you.

Seems like it's all about control (or the lack thereof)- and being so self-centered, nothing or nobody else comes into the picture (a result of television, increasing isolationism within communities, and the "fix me now" mindset- which leads to abuse of all kinds of substances, lack of thinking about consequences, and no sense of happiness with one's current situation??). Just a thought.

I'd tend to agree with that too.
Concequence is an often neglected part of forming one's actions today.

For instance, someone who goes to my school was walking in town one day, when he got harassed by a small group of people who were racially abusing him (he is white, they were pakistani, don't call me racist for identifying the nature of the divide!). And his words on what he did was "I boxed em in the head!". Of course, one of the guys was knocked out, he made a run for it, and got away with it.

However. These people were not best pleased that this guy had "boxed in" one of their gang leaders. Whoops. About 20 members of this gang turned up outside our school one day, found the guy, and beat him. With a baseball bat (or at least from what I've heard).

To think, if he had just walked away, or reported them, none of this would have happened. Somehow I think that they would have been less angry if they had been chucked out of the shopping center, than having their leader knocked out.

I'm not saying that the gang is in the right, or that the person involved is in the right, but acting without thinking of concequence just makes everything worse. In his case, 5 stiches worse.
