Default PC/ Laptop typing on it's own

PC typing on it's own

Hi Guys, has anyone heard of a trojan etc that causes a pc or laptop to start typing on it's own.

We have run, Trend, Symantec, Adaware - all come up with nothing except for some cookies, the laptop firewall detected no entry. We have even sumitted the files to trend & they come up with nothing. Wireless was not enabled. Log files show nothing, physical firewall shows nothing.

The typing was readable & fast when it was typing.

any ideas welcome.

Thampson.

Does it happen in safe mode?

Does it happen in normal boot mode while physically unplugged from the internet (unplugging the cable is the only sure way - exiting a browser does not mean you are disconnected)?

Are you saying it is actually typing real words, not just random characters?

Yes - a sample of what it typed:

"can discuss it in her father, this is the power of a child is down by saying that it now is that when the yield an 819 on its Tany......" sounds like code...

- the person was in excel at the time, no macros in the spread sheet. Stopped typing as soon as I accessed the laptop & didn't start up again - Wed 9th around 1pm.

Today on another pc it typed about the NRL - not cryptic like the above, more like player profiles etc - the person was in word & it took over the mouse

Yes we are on the internet behind an Astaro Firewall, today's pc doesn't have a local firewall like the laptop.

Once you close down the computer it doesn't start typing again.

But you did not answer these questions:

If you suspect malware and want help, follow the below steps!

To help us to best help you, please follow the steps below closely and in the order given and do not skip anything. If you have any difficulty, please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything along with details about any problems you may have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better. Don't be afraid to ask for additional help if you don't understand something!

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

Safe mode - has only happened twice in 8 days - so I'm unable to leave a pc in safe mode for x amount of time waiting for it to happen again.

Internet - yes has been connected both times, but the firewall is unable to detect any intrusion.

Once the computer has been rebooted the automatic typing does not start up again.

Will continue testing tomorrow & advise further programs used, as yet none of the progams used has found anything.

Okay! Complete all steps and then post the HJT log. If the problem happens again, bring up Task Manager and look at what processes are running.

What other programs are running when this has happened?
