Default What is it running?

Hi,

I'm looking for a website or tool which gives you the ability to find out what kind of operating system is used on a particular web server. I'm sure I've seen this before somewhere but can't place it now. I tried www.DNSstuff.com but the 'Domain Info' tool there isn't giving me server platform.

All I have is a website address and the host name. This host does both Linux and Windows hosting - I need to know which kind of server this particular site is on.

Thanks

Why not send an email to the server owner and ask?

if the home directory is www it's Windows, if it's html it's Unix/Linux, that's the best way to find out
