I just went to play Kingdom of Loathing and it said "The system is down for nightly maintenance". Does this happend every night? Weird.

 

it happened to me last night, while I was playing the game.....one click, and got that maintenance thing......wobbles

 

it is called rollover.. the kingdom shuts down for 20min -1 hour every night. usually back up around 11 pm cst. you get a new allotment of adventures each day. food and drink will give you extra adventures also.
chat helps out... pass the alter of literacy and the channels are:
/c newbie - all manner of questions may be asked...
/c games - this is the games channel, raffles and trivia and anti-raffles happen here.
(the only regular raffles to trust are run by rafflebot /msg rafflebot help)
/c trade - sell and buy here
/c clan - this is the clan you belong to private channel

to pm someone /msg or /w (playing name or id #) if a player name has a space in it subsitute an underscore _ for the space

/ msg repbot (player name or number) this will reply in private to you a players rep 1-5
/msg repbot rate (player) 1-5 -- this will rate someone (do this if you get bad or good treatment)

What's the quickest way to gain moxie points? It's taking me awhile to level...

 

Depends on your level, but the back-alley is pretty good for lower levels.

 

go to the council of loathing for quests. that should open up new areas for you to adventure.

 

I'm on level 4 and I'm always getting my ass kicked and can only handle fights in the Haunted Pantry or Cobb's Knob. Am I missing something?

if you click on the donate button.. and donate $10 (or multiples there of ) you will get Mr A's. they sell for 7.5 milliom meat. that is the fast way of getting meat and ri-enforcing our defenses.

How do you sell a Mr Accessory?

 

go to the chat and go to /c trade. the lowest price to sell a mr a is 7.5 million meat. if you don't feel confortable selling it yourself kmail it to me (or someone else you trust) (by the way i am IXI in KoL) and i will sell it.. also at level 9 you can buy a store in the mall and sell it there.
note it is wise to read up on protecting yourself here

*Broken trade system*
Sometimes you will see a player that is offering a deal that seems quite good, even to good to be true. A Mr. Accessory offered for half the usual price, for example. You contact this player and agree to the trade. One problem, though, his trade system is “broken”. So, he asks you to send the meat, and he’ll then send the item. Once you’ve sent the meat though, of course he’ll not send the item. You’ve been scammed!

Defense: Always use the trade system. Even if a deal is too good to be true. Nine times out of ten, it actually is, indeed, false.

more adventure will be granted at 11p cst each day. HeII ramen will grant you 22-29 more adventures a serving, fancy drinks (the ones in cocoanuts, with tiny umbrella and ice (usuallfancy names like roll in the hay and alittle sump'n sump'n add up to 14 per drink))

and when I log in again
I am out of time,adventures, and have no food to eat. .
how do I get back up with no food or quests?
I do need to get my portrait
but I don't know what I am to wear. . .

The Boss Bat keeps kicking my tail.
My base stats are
Muscle - 20
Mysticality - 20
Moxie - 18
Thanks to clan karma I have the Shiny ring which bumps each stat up 3.
Any suggestions on how to beat him or should I just wait until my stats are higher?
