Help with deleted file recovery

Hello, I was following the (bad) advice of someone and I deleted a file off of my D Drive. I cleared the recycle bin too. The file was very important because it contained over half of a website in it. Is there ANY way to restore the file, even though the recycle bin has been emptied?

I did a search and I found a program called SmartUndelete that says it can recover the file, but I wanted to know if anyone on here knew of any other programs that they would recommend, or if they have heard of SmartDelete, and how effective it is.

My computer uses Windows XP Professional. Thanks in advance to any help!

Thanks so much for all of the responses. I downloaded the PC Inspector File Recovery and it found a lot of the files I deleted, but when I deleted them, they were all in one folder, and now they are in separate files. Do you know if there is any way to locate the main folder and recover that, or do I have to save each file individually? Thanks again!

Personally I would take what I can get now be that with them separate as the more you use your HD and save copy etc the more likely you are to loose those files slowly as the area's that those files occupy are flagged as blank space, so in essence they could be written over at any time.

Okay, they are part of a website so I'm going to publish the pages before that happens. Do you know why there are some files that it didn't find that I know were deleted? And, is there any way to get those back? The program you recommended was free, but I noticed that some of the other programs weren't. Do you think there is a difference because the PC Inspector seemed to locate all the same files and be just as effective. Just wondering if a more expensive program might find more files, thanks!

for the reason I typed above the more you save, install, copy and use your pc the more likely that the deleted files will not be recoverable as the space they occupied will start to be written over, get them back possibly but only with professional data recovery companies and that does cost a fair bit of cash.

If PC Inspector found the same files as a paid for application then no they wouldnt be more effective, again the same reason I mentioned above in respect to files will start to be written over.

Some companies like CONVAR who make PC Inspector release some of their products free for home use, why you ask.... 1. It gives them market share or mass exposure, wich leads me to 2. It would be more likely that you may buy one of their paid products.
