New Case Cover?

I just made some major upgrading to my pc, even put a giant fan on my graphics card, but the only problem with my computer now is that I can't get enough air INTO my computer.

Originally my plan was to make a duct system through the empty pci bays, but the graphics card and fan are just too big to let fresh air in, so I need to find another method.

My idea is to cut holes in my case and add fans to let in plenty of air to the right places. The only problem with this is that cutting the case voids my warrenty with best buy...

My question is, is there a way to get JUST a cover for my case without buying a new case? Also, if I have to buy a enw case, is there any way to make sure it will fit? And finally, is it simply ill-advisable to construct my own cover for my case?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Why are you worried about the warranty of your case? If you are confusing your pc's warranty then you'll probably find that opening your case and modifying the internals has already voided your warranty...

I understand that, but actually the warranty is with best buy, and I had them install my upgrades. Doing that keeps my warranty safe.

This may sound dumb, but would making a case cover out of cardboard be a bad idea? I guess it wouldn't absorb heat but it would let me cut holes and such?

I would cut the case myself or leave it open....what choice do you have? I wouldnt do the cardboard thing with all that electrical! The other option I would say..go to home depot get a piece of aluminum that is bigger than the width and height of the side of the case. lay the puter on its back side and put the alum. were your new cover is going to be...flush at the top and in the front..a little over hang at the top and back, mark with a sharpie. Now cut it out...you may have to buy the appropriate tools. cut your holes for the fans in the side etc. drill your holes to screw into case....paint

No metal chasis means you'll have a danger of static electricity. If you don't earth yourself when changing things with your hardware, you're more likely to get a problem with static and fry all your components. Stick with a metal chasis.

I think cardboard is going to be a lot easier, plus I bought some today:)

Anyways, I am sure to ground myself on unpainted metal, if that's the only concern then I'm going to go with it, much easier to take on and off than a custom build metal cover.

Heh, any chance of posting a pic? I'd love to see what a metal case with carboard side looks like :D
