Stupid Stupid Ipods! HELP ME PLEASE!

Hi, ive just been sent a replacement ipod because my first one broke after a week.

It turns out that this one only switches on when the hold button is switched ON (but then i cant use the click wheel or any other button...) When i turn the hold button off, the ipod switches off.

i've tried a restore using the latest software but still no change. Can anyone shed any light on the matter or am i going to have to send it back again?

I have no clue as i have never owned one, but if it is not behaving as it is meant to behave then it sounds like a problem and sending it back may be needed.

I hope someone can help and it is not as bad as i or you think..
